Helping Clients Beat the Heat

By Christopher Paradiso

Ah, summer. During the winter we tend to long for the long, warm days of summer, but it's well known that extreme heat can cause a myriad of health problems leading individuals to file claims normally relating to health. Things such as heat exhaustion or fainting are common when the temperature hits ninety degrees; are you and your agency helping your community to stay healthy and fight the heat? Here are some tips for staying cool you may consider relaying to your customers:
• Eat spicy food: Did you know that spicy foods can help cool down your body? When you eat spicy foods, your body tends to sweat and heat up causing everything to cool down as a result.
• Take a warm shower: While conventional wisdom dictates taking a cold shower when it's hot, the opposite is actually true. After a cold shower, your body naturally heats itself back up to make up for the loss of heat.
• Hang out in the AC and wear loose, light clothing
While the summer is all about being outside and having fun, it's important that your customers understand the risks of being out in the sun too long. Whether it's a bad sunburn or too much heat, the health are real. So do your part as a reliable, independent insurance agency and make sure you're getting the message across to your community.
