Lloyd’s has hired Vincent Vandendael as director, international markets.

Mr Vandendael will take up his position by the end of this year and will be responsible for the development and management of all Lloyd’s global operations outside North America.

He joins from Zurich, where he was most recently chief executive officer of the insurer’s global corporate unit in Asia-Pacific.

In his new role he will be based in London.

Commenting on the appointment, Lloyd’s chief executive officer, Dr Richard Ward, says: “The continued development of Lloyd’s global reach is a key part of our Vision 2025.

“As we look to cement our position as the global centre for specialist insurance and reinsurance, the international insurance experience that Vincent brings, in particular from the fast-growing Asia-Pacific economies, will be invaluable to us.”
