Britons enjoy greater job security

Legal & General’s latest Job Security Index has revealed that job confidence in the UK is now the highest it’s been all year.

More than three-quarters (78%) of working adults now say their job is secure, a 5% rise on the previous high of April 2012.

Part-time working adults also report a 5% rise from 68% last quarter to 73%.

The improved confidence tallies with the latest employment statistics from the ONS, which show that unemployment fell by 50,000 to 2.53m.

One in five men are also considering how they could make use of a part-time skill or hobby and turn it into a full-time job, should they lose their current full-time job, compared to 15% of women thinking along those lines.

Mark Holweger, Director of Legal & General’s general insurance business, said that it was great news that working Britons now felt more secure in their jobs.
