Aviva and Dayinsure launch learner driver policy

Aviva has partnered with Dayinsure, which specialises in short-term motor insurance, to offer a new policy for people learning to drive.

Dayinsure Learner provides cover from just one day to up to three months and is available to motorists aged 17 and over who hold a provisional driving licence and meet the acceptance criteria.

Aviva points out that adding a provisional licence holder to an annual policy can be expensive, with any subsequent claim affecting the No Claim Discount, whereas the new policy has been designed to keep costs as low as possible, including an excess of just £250.

However, to achieve this it excludes cover between the hours of 10pm and 6am.

Aviva’s UK general insurance head of broker personal lines, Brian Spinks, comments: “We fully recognise the difficulties that buying insurance as a learner driver can present, particularly for young drivers and their families.

“We are, therefore, especially delighted that Dayinsure Learner provides a cost-effective, flexible solution that allows them to perfect their driving skills without breaking the bank.”

The policy can be bought online, with insurance documents emailed instantly to the policyholder.
