Global insurer RSA has announced the appointment of Martin Scicluna as the firm’s new chairman.
Scicluna brings extensive experience to his new role, having served in the industry for over three decades, including more than 10 years as chairman of Deloitte.
During his career he has also served as the chairman of Great Portland Estates Plc and of the Audit committee of Lloyds Banking Group Plc.
Scicluna will join RSA with effect from 1 January 2013, and succeeds John Napier who is leaving the position after a decade from 31 January.
Senior Independent Director Edward Lea expressed his delight at Scicluna’s appointment and praised his considerable knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry.
Scicluna himself described becoming RSA’s chairman as a privilege, adding that he was looking forward to joining the team and working alongside his colleagues on the Board.
