Towergate completes acquisition of NPIB

Towergate Insurance has announced that it has acquired the business and assets of Norwich and Peterborough Insurance Brokers (NPIB).

The acquisition of the non-life insurance broking operation of the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society is Towergate’s 25th this year and follows the acquisition last month of Dawson Whyte.

NPIB was founded 18 years ago after Norwich and Peterborough Building SOciety acquired Halstead Insurance Brokers and merged it with Norwich and Peterborough General Insurance Services.

NPIB’s present workforce of around 60 employees will all transfer to Towergate Insurance.

Workers currently based in building society branches will relocate to Towergate locations, and Sales and Operations Director Steve Kendall will continue to lead the business.

Towergate Insurance Group CEO Mark Hodges described NPIB as a respected broking operation and said that Towergate’s ambitions to increase its presence in the East of England made it an ideal home for the business.
