Beazley announces new property division leader

Beazley plc has announced that Jonathan Gray, leader of the property division for 20 years and a director for the last 11, has indictaed his intention to resign from the board in July of 2013.

Gray will retain his position as a director of the group’s Lloyd’s managing agency, Beazley Furlonge Limited.

He is to be succeeded as leader of the property division on 1 January 2013 by Mark Bernacki, who first joined the firm seven years ago.

Bernacki will also occupy Gray’s places on the executive and underwriting committees.

Beazley Chief Executive Andrew Horton said that the firm’s property division was now its second largest, and that Beazley owed a huge debt to the energy and expertise of Gray.

Horton went on to say that Bernacki had collaborated closely with Gray and other members of the division’s leadership team and was exceptionally well-qualified for his new role.
